Meggy's Destiny, it is a 2020 Australian computer-animated action-adventure sports comedy-drama film directed by Luke Lerdwichagul in his film directorial debut and produced by Kevin Lerdwichagul and is the very first film in both the SMG4 series and Glitch Productions's history. This is also the longest video in all of SMG4 history, with a running time of 44 minutes. It was aired on February 29, 2020.
Plot
Meggy Spletzer enters the final Splatfest with Mario, Luigi and Tari to try and keep a promise she's made to an old rival.
Why It Deserves to Win Splatfest
- Meggy as always is a likable character though the other characters in the film are just as likable as Meggy such as Mario, Luigi, Tari, and Axol. Aside from that, speaking of Meggy's likablity.
- Earlier on in the movie, she stubbornly refuses the Ink Boi 300 because she believes she still has all of her skills. Due to this, she has almost lost the last Splatfest, and refused to accept the fact that she needed the Ink Boi. However, she let go of her pride because of her meeting with her past Inkling self.
- This is also when she lets go of Desti's death in "World War Mario", where at first, when she initally lost the Splatfest, she cries, and felt she had let Desti down, but after Callie and Marie told her that the other team cheated, she gained more confidence and hope, and later she actually wins the Splatfest, and afterwards, she hugged Desti (as a ghost) as a way to of making it easier to do so, thanking her for keeping up the promise she made in at her funeral.
- The film explains how Meggy ended up in the paint can that was eventually found in Peach's Castle.
- A lot of memes references are funny as always such as Squidward from SpongeBob SquarePants and Tari referencing one of Sonic's iconic quotes in which that quote is "You're too slow".
- Axol making Meggy calm about not being an inkling is one of his best moments before his death in WOTFI 2021 as he tried to encourage her what is right and it's just best to be yourself in which, you should just be yourself proving a movie is promoting a good moral that you should always be proud to be yourself.
- Mario finding out the Ink Brigade cheated and reported them to the workers of the Splatfest tourment proves he's honest and he wasn't always his normal stupid character.
- Pin the tail on Boopkins is very funny due to Boopkin's reaction and him begging for help.
- The heartbreaking scene where Meggy tried to find something fun to do in her city just to notice there is a "No humans allowed" sign on all of them.
Bad Qualities
- Some parts of the movies can be forced like E.Gadd begging for someone to thank him for the creations.
- Team Killer Ink are the most forgetteble SMG4 villians, depending on your view.
- It still doesn't explain the plotholes the Anime Arc had
Trivia
- Ever since the movie, it was confirmed Desti is never coming back and the movie was the main origin to the Meggy plush.
Reception
Meggy's Destiny has recieved mainly a postive reception towards most SMG4 fans with holding a 8.3/10 on IMDb with some fans on the SMG4 subreddit considering it to be one of the best SMG4 videos ever.
