Smosh is an American web-based sketch comedy duo consisting of Ian Andrew Hecox (born November 30, 1987) and Daniel Anthony Padilla (/pəˈdiːə/, commonly called Anthony, born September 16, 1987).

Padilla began posting flash animations on Newgrounds in 2003, under the name Smosh. He was later joined by his friend Ian Hecox. Soon afterward, they began to post videos on YouTube in the autumn of 2005 and became one of the most popular channels on the site. As of January 2017, the Smosh channel has more than 6 billion video views and 22 million subscribers, making it the 7th most subscribed channel on YouTube. The Smosh team has expanded to include others to handle animated, foreign language, and video gaming content videos, and the sketches have included more actors.

The Smosh channel has experienced three different spans as the most subscribed YouTube channel. The first period spanned from May to June 2006, the second spanned from April 2007 to September 2008, and the third span lasted from January to August 2013.

Why They Are Amazing

  1. They were one of the few YouTubers that would make lots of great videos during the early days of YouTube.
  2. Lots of their skits are well made and funny.
  3. They made lots of great songs such as "Firetruck", "Ultimate Assassins Creed Song", "The Legend of Zelda Rap", "Parents Suck!" and "Smash Rap".
  4. They even won five awards.
  5. Aside from Ian and Anthony, the other characters including Stevie, Peter Peter, Hugh Jasshol, Ian's Mom and Charlie the Drunk Guinea Pig are also enjoyable.
  6. They have always produced their videos in widescreen 16:9 (not counting their first video back in 2005, which was the only one made back in 2005).
  7. Their secondary channels including "Smosh Pit", "Smosh Games" and "Shut Up! Cartoons" are also great.
  8. Great series such as If [Blank] Were Real, One Letter Off [Blank] and Food Battle.
  9. Their video "If Board Games Were Politically Correct" was a great way of making fun of SJW propaganda.
  10. In June 2023, Anthony & Ian brought back the channel back from Mythical Entertainment and went back to making videos like they did pre-2017.

Qualities That Should Shut Up

  1. The duo made Smosh: The Movie, which wasn't very well-received.
  2. Excessive amounts of toilet humor in some videos.
  3. Some of their videos were privated or deleted:
    1. "If Cartoons Were Real" was deleted for being accused of violating YouTube's community guidelines (thanks a lot to the YouTube team).
    2. "Rejected Videos" was privated without an explanation, however it was privated due to a joke about the KKK.
    3. "Breaking the Habit" was privated for unknown reasons, though it could have something to do with Ian's portrayal of the late North Korean dictator Kim Jong-il.
    4. "Smosh Snatchers" was privated for unknown reasons.
  4. The channel started to somewhat decline after 2016 and would later hit a bigger decline after Anthony left in 2017, this meant that Smosh had to abandon their original skits and it also caused their cartoon channel "Shut Up! Cartoons" to go inactive. While some of their new videos were okay, they just weren't the same without Anthony. It's understandable why Anthony left, but need we repeat what we just said again? Luckly it got better in 2023 after Anthony came back and doing more skits.
